Bridge Collapses in Cyberjaya!!

An unused bridge after the ELITE Highway toll in Cyberjaya collapsed this afternoon at around 12.40pm, 28 February 2013. The first few pictures of the collapsed bridge surfaced on Twitter and Facebook, with rumours of it being an old report, but it was confirmed later on by news sources. What was the cause of the collapse? Will this collapse turn political? 'Follow this Story' for the latest updates...

A flyover in Selangor Science Park in Cyberjaya collapsed today, in the latest incident involving public works projects in the country.

Several Twitter users have circulated photographs of the flyover which appears to have been broken into two pieces. It is understood that no one was hurt in the incident.

Last week the roof the state stadium in Kuala Terengganu also fell down. It was undergoing repairs from an earlier collapse.

The flyover, which was closed last November, is an exit from the Elite Highway (KM P2.4) towards SSP2.

It is owned by the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS), while the road below it is the Lingkaran Putrajaya stretch managed by PLUS Malaysia Berhad.

A pipe running along the flyover also broke during the collapse.

A December 9, 2012, statement on the PLUS website states that a traffic diversion was activated in December on the Lingkaran Putrajaya stretch below the flyover to facilitate bridge inspection works.

A traffic jam has built around the area as drivers slowed their cars to look at the collapsed flyover.

Around 10 PLUS officers and a few security guards from the PKNS showroom beside the flyover have gathered around it.

SSP2 is a PKNS property project that is touted to be Malaysia’s first solar city.

The Star reported in November 2008 that the RM56 million flyover would provide easier access to commuters from the city centre and the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to the 1,300-acre SSP2.

The English daily also said that SSP2, which is an integrated mixed development project with industrial, commercial and residential components, was formed to expand PKNS’ SSP1 in Kota Damansara.

But the true, its cause by this si gemuk~~~~
